Pete Cartwright

BuiltWithNOF

Pete is a 48 year old civil servant, who enjoys most things American (apart from the TV programmes!) and has been a saxophone player in a rock, soul, funk and R&B band for nearly 20 years.

His first car at age 17 was a 1964 Zephyr Six, that started his love of large cars. Over the years he has owned Cortinas, Corsairs, Minis, VW’s, Landrovers and several Volvo’s, but only 3 Yanks as yet – a 1984 Chevy Blazer Silverado, 1970 Mustang Mach 1 and a 1978 Cadillac Seville.

PETE’S CADILLAC SEVILLE.

Pete’s 1978 Cadillac Seville was imported new and is a right hand drive.

It has had two previous owners and has just over 30,000 miles on the clock. Pete found it behind a Toyota dealers in Telford where it had been parked between two garages and had not moved for four years. It was covered in moss, all the tyres were cracked and flat, but with a fresh battery and a drop of fuel, the engine turned over three times and fired up! Pete parted with a very small amount of cash, and took the Caddy home to join his Mustang Mach 1, Triumph Dolomite and two Volvos! As Pete says himself, this is not a good move if your wife isn’t a car nut!!

That was in 1998, and since then, Pete has rebuilt the braking system, replaced all fuel lines, fitted new shocks, and cleaned and repainted the underside. The body is now stripped of all lights and brightwork, and is being prepared for a respray. Pete says at the rate he is going, it should be on the road just before he retires.
